Overview
JPG, PNG, WebP, and GIF are not interchangeable. Photos want JPG or WebP. Logos and screenshots with sharp text want PNG. This converter changes container/codec in the browser.
Transparency is the usual trap: JPG has no alpha. Converting a PNG logo to JPG fills the background (often white or black). WebP can keep transparency and is smaller, but some older tools still refuse it.
Convert for compatibility (a CMS that only takes JPG) or for size (PNG screenshot → WebP). Do not convert back and forth for fun. Each lossy hop adds damage.
